A real gem for lovers of Art Deco architecture, Casablanca is home to a surprising heritage. In the years 1920-1930, when the city was in full expansion under the French protectorate, it developed a unique architectural style, blending the elegant lines of Art Deco with elements of Moroccan inspiration. The Old Medina district, Mohammed V Boulevard, and the surrounding areas of the city center are full of facades decorated with wrought-iron balconies, geometric mosaics, and floral patterns.

These buildings tell the story of a time when Casablanca dreamed of being a modern and avant-garde city, while honoring its local roots Casablanca was and remains a land of experimentation for many architects: Zevaco is one of the most emblematic of Casablanca and Morocco, recognized for its significant influence on architectural modernism in the years 1950-1970. His daring works combines functionality, raw aesthetics and innovation, marked by the use of exposed concrete, geometric shapes and fluid volumes.

Zevaco has left an indelible mark on Casablanca with iconic creations such as the Shell Station (which has become a symbol of modernist architecture) and several private villas, public buildings and urban facilities. He was able to integrate design elements inspired by the local context, while adopting an avant-garde and universal approach.

His work perfectly illustrates the unique architectural identity of Casablanca: a dialogue between international modernity and Moroccan roots. Today, Zevaco remains a major source of inspiration for architecture and urban planning enthusiasts.

Take a tour of the city center to discover these historic buildings such as the Villa des Arts, a cultural space dedicated to contemporary Moroccan and international art.
